As a top 10 selection by a panel of judges, Whittier Elementary has been awarded a $1,000 donation from Jersey Mike\u2019s Subs. One grand prize winner will receive a visit from the Harlem Globetrotters before the end of the 2023-24 school year.<\/p>\n

Hoping to win funds for their school, Piper, a fifth grader, and Kendall, a kindergartener, combined their love for basketball and the Harlem Globetrotters into a creative project for Black History Month. They researched the team’s 98-year history and displayed their findings on Globetrotters-themed basketballs, organized into a timeline from 1926 to today. The sisters also showcased their own basketball skills in the project.<\/p>\n
